scissor sisters 9/29

september has been a strange month for me filled with fresh starts, unexpected events, and tearful goodbyes. that being said, i could think of no better way end such a crazy month than with a crazy night out in san francisco to take in a concert by the glam-disco-dance band, new york's

  • at the warfield. first i must say that the warfield is an outstanding venue. a large theater that feels like a small club, it boasts classic decor and kick ass acoustics. you can feel the history when you walk through its doors. the atmosphere was dramatic and so were the people in attendance. as for the main attraction, they may just be the most fun band out there right now. for me, they are most easily described as the love child of early elton john and abba, with just a dash of the bee gees (mostly due to the strong falsetto of co-lead singer jake shears). they are funky, flamboyant, and altogether fabulous. i danced my ass off during the opening band (a fun killers-esque quintet called small sins ) plus their entire set and the encore, and i know it was just what i needed. many thanks to emily, my partner in crime, for yet another super fun night. i highly recommed that if you want to have fun and dance the night away, check out the scissor sisters when they come to your town.

    on a few unrelated notes:

    1) thursday nights are set for me. grey's anatomy continues to wow me, and now ugly betty has caught my attention as well. america ferrera is adorable as the awkward and nerdy, yet determined betty. vanessa williams is evil perfection (botox! eek!) and selma hayak's cameo's as the telenovella star are hilarious!

    2) school is going well. i experienced a moment of clarity about my goals, and i feel determined to accomplish any and all tasks thrown my way as i begin to join to KFJC family. ( for those of you in the bay, you can find them on the dial at 89.7 FM or on the web at KFJC.org....also the metro newspaper just named them best college radio station in the bay area for 2006. way to go, guys!)

    3) be on the lookout for a new set of duaflex shots in the coming week. i should be getting back my first set of black & white prints any day now.

    4) and last but not least, i want to send a BIG thank you out to all of you who sent me your thoughts and love over the past week. it has been a tough one, but all the support was very much appreciated. you guys are the best. muah!
