MIMOSAS FOR ONE

i've never actually read that book, but i knew it has something to do with periods. i just read up on it thanks to wikipedia, and now i'm more intrigued than ever. for some reason, i want to get the 1st edition copy. i think i like the cover or something. i have been in a rut for the last couple of months, and things are starting to look up. the process is going slower than i would like however, so to cut the bordom, i do impulsive things, like cut my hair. normally, this sentence would be followed by the strategic placement of a photo of me and my new haircut. Alas, i still haven't purchased a new digital camera, so the world gets a break from the hundreds of self-portraits i usually take each month. i'm not as young as i used to be. this is a fact, that, for the most part, really hasn't hit me yet. next month marks the sixth anniversary of my 21st birthday. It doesn't feel like it, but that was a long time ago! Yesterday at work, i was chatting with my co-worker when we got to the age question. I knew she was young, but i thought she was about 20. However, she is 18 (soon to be 19). That isn't much different than 20, but for some reason, it was like she entered into a whole other generation. wait, isn't she? Am I immature, or are kids these days wiser than i was at their age? When I was 19, 26 was ancient. Am I ancient? I guess the reason for this crisis, is that at my now ripe old age of 26, many of my contemporaries have settled down with a 401k, a house, a boyfriend (or in some cases, a husband), and maybe a kid or two. right now, flower shops all around are scrambling to finish the 500 or so deliveries they have make today, and men all around are srambling to find a flower shop that has any red roses left. i used to work in a flower shop. it's not impossible for a guy to find red roses on valentine's day, especially at 8am. Even at 6pm, they might still be able to scrounge up a dozen red roses in a vase. i have 3 problems with this scenario: 1. these will most likey be arranged with leatherfern and baby's breath, and put in a cheesy vase. 2. these red roses will be the most sad and pathetic looking flowers in the entire shop. 3. these red roses with their leather fern and baby's breath will cost sed men roughly $115.00 including tax, give or take a few bucks. last year, i was trying helping several men at 6pm on valentine's day. 7 out of 10 guys i helped wanted, you guessed it, red roses. okay, not really. If she had been, though, it wouldn't surprise me one bit. this woman is hell on wheels. My mom is 67 today, and i'm being totally honest when i say she does not look it. she says that my sisters and i, and their kids and husbands, keep her young, but i think she has just plain old- fashioned taken good care of herself. she eats well, excercises regularly, doesn't wear much makeup, and never goes outside without sunscreen covering every exposed inch of her skin. It has been a rough couple of years for her. her mom and my dad died within a year of each other, and you can tell she is more melancholy than she used to be. i've been neglecting this little blog as of late, but i'm feeling a sudden surge of motivation thanks to a literary kick in the arse from my good buddy kim, who incidently authors a great site entitled, crowcrastination . After being delighted by a slew of new posts from kim, i decided it was time to check out my neglected page. upon that inspection, i decided the name and theme change i had made a few months prior wasn't working for me.
