far east flea market

whew! i can't believe it's been almost a month since i last blogged. did you miss me? is there really anyone out there? anyhow, here's what i've been up to:

1. i got a new job! i'm now part of the box office staff at the san jose repretory theatre. i'm just thrilled to be back in theatre. once upon a time it was my great love. It has been awhile, but after taking in a performance of
  • "Rabbit Hole"
  • it's nice to see that some things never change.

    2. i've been ebaying and amazoning up a storm. whenever i get stressed, i shop. i've picked up a sweet turquoise blue rotary phone, a fisher price portable record player, copies of
  • "welcome to the dollhouse"
  • ,
  • "pootietang"
  • , and
  • "nadia"
  • , a bio pic about romanian gynmast nadia comaneci (she received the first ever perfect 10 in modern gymnastic olympic history at the 1976 summer olympics. she was 14 at the time) omg my sisters and i taped this off tv when i was, like 6, and i watched that tape almost every day for probably 3 years, and then occasionally after that. well, a few weeks ago, i decided to watch it, and after when i was rewinding it, the film reel just gave up and snapped off the end. i was surprised to find it on dvd. it's a tv movie, so it has it's share of cheese, but i still love it.

    3) i spent a couple days last week catching up with my college roommate when she visited the bay. her friends and i hit up berkeley, and various parts of sf including the mission, chinatown (i also had a toy camera seminar there. see photo above), north beach, union square, and the castro. thanks to new friends, our seasoned tour guides (and sf residents), i feel like i'm getting a handle on how to get around that city. in a sentence, i looooooove bart but i hate the bus.

during that photo seminar, i shot with the supersampler that produced the photo above, and a holga whose film had to be sent out. keep your fingers crossed that some of them turn out :)
