i feel like a proud new momma today. the newest member of the family was picked up at savers thrift store yesterday night. she's a

    • , but there were a few reasons i couldn't leave her there.
    1.the name. honeywell? i looooove honey :)
    2.the case. yeah, half of it is missing, but it's still sooooo cool
    3.the film speed dial changes and the lens comes off, unilke my beloved k1000
    4.she has an automatic shutter trigger. tripod here i come!
    5.i'm a cameraholic! i could never have walked away without making her mine!

    okay. i think i've gushed enough ;)

    so, the oscar noms were announced today. can i just say thank god

    • , because it is such a real and raw performance. This wonderful and affecting film never
    over-moralizes or sells out it's characters or story. He is so terrific, one of my favorite actors. He is so much more than just that guy from the notebook. Of course it doesn't hurt that he is one of the most beautiful men on the planet in my opinion. (btw rent the notebook. screw that. OWN IT!) He probably won't win. I hear Forrest Whitaker is electric and terrifying in "the last king of scotland" (another film on my 'must see' list) but at least this means i get to see his hottness (probably along with girlfriend-"notebook" co-star rachel mcadams in all her cuteness! seriously, i can't hate. they are adorable)during the oscar telecast.

    is it almost february? good. that much closer to june! you probably have no idea what that means, but i do!

    Cinequest Film Festival is taking over Downtown San Jose as we speak, and last night I went to the California Theatre to check out Tenacious DTour , a documentary that followed the D on their world tour in support of The Pick of Destiny . A funny thing happened when my friend and I went to pick out seats. We ended up sitting right next to Kyle Gass and his girlfriend. for those of you who aren't familiar with who he is, he's the other guy in the band who's not Jack Black. We had our momentary silent freak out when we realized it was him, at which point I quietly leaned over and told him he was awesome. He quietly thanked me, and normalcy was restored until a few kids came over asking for autographs. He obliged but soon realized the mini pencil he was given to sign with wasn't going to work. Thanks to my new Andy Warhol Happy Bug Day tote bag, complete with handy organizational top compartment, i had easy access to my pen. I handed it over with great joy, and he was abl

    awaiting the arrival of the great pumpkin

    happy halloween everyone! tonight is the night that all of the little ones have been waiting for all year. i remember being going trick or treating as a kid and the smell of mixed candies and pillowcases, the stomach ache you'd get from consuming 1/2 your bagworth an hour after you'd get home, and protecting what was left of your stash from the hungry hands of those around you. I used to hide a lot of my candy, and then forget about it and find it a year later, gooey and stuck to a notebook in the back of my closet. Now that i am older, however, my halloween usually takes place at a party the weekend before the big day.
