love : televison style

like most women, i'm a sucker for romance. over the years televison has provided it's viewers with some great love stories. Here are my top fiv-er-i mean six:

1) roseanne and dan Conner (roseanne): the perfect blend of humor, romance, and passion (both blissful and combative) make dan and roseanne a love story for the ages.

2) lucy and ricky ricardo (i love lucy): a firey redhead, and a firey cuban? their legendary love story was of the 5 alarm type both on and off screen. While their marriage may not have lasted, lucy refered to desi as the love of her life, and spoke with him on the phone every day until his death in 1986.

3) david addison and maddie hayes (moonlighting): hot, hot, HOT!!!! These two were each other's perfect foils. their witty banter, heated arguments, and crazy adventures running the blue moon detective agency, make these two irresistible to watch. what makes it more interesting is that allegedly bruce willis and cybill shepherd couldn't stand each other! suddenly it makes so much sense....

4) Dylan Mckay and Brenda Walsh (beverly hills 90210): ah, young love! brenda and dylan.... oh what could have been if shannen doherty hadn't pissed off tori spelling and gotten herself kicked off the show. watching old episodes of the show just confims what great chemistry the two actors had together. kelly and dylan?!?!?! whatever.

5) sam malone and diane chambers (cheers): they hate it...they hate how much they love it! the connection between sam and diane defied explaination. they were soooooo wrong for each other it just had to be right. right? that is until shelly long got to big for her britches and jumped ship to start her big hollywood movie career. it's okay, shelly. i still really like troop beverly hills......

6)dwayne wayne and whitley gilbert (a different world)
having the main star of your show leave after the first season is sometimes the best thing that can happen to a show. take a different world for example. after lisa bonet left, the whole show was re-tooled. let me just say, thank god! it allowed the writers to flesh out the fun and utimately romantic relationship between dwayne and whitley. Their on and off romance carried the show until the end, and Dwanyne interrupting Whitley and Byron's wedding to profess his love remains one of my favorite moments in sitcom history.
