doing it with a celebrity...so bad it's good

when i first heard that some schmuck thought up a show where professional dancers
( and later figure skaters) would partner up with a "celebrity" (i use this term loosely...drew lachey, deborah gibson, todd bridges !?!?!) risking injury or at the very least utter humliation (poor ashley delgrosso. she had to peform for weeks with master "no rythym, didn't even try, no talent" p), i was to say the least, not excited. however this hasn't stopped me from making both dancing with the stars, and skating with celebrities part of my weekly tv schedule. my mom and i watch them together. it's sort of like bonding. these shows are so bad, they are good...american culture at it's finest. i have my favorites too. drew lachey is actually a very good dancer, and tia carrere is so beautiful. she just had a baby, and she looks radiant. over at the ice rink, jillian barbarie can do more than be obnoxious at 7am, and debbie, i mean, deborah gibson was so cute with her partner, kurt browning (who i have always had a crush on..*sigh*). however, the judges favor crappy attempts at technical elements over a fun program with great artistic style, so as of last night, they're out.

what is it about finding someone to root for that makes getting addicted to shows like this just a little more acceptable?

can you BELIEVE george scored higher than both tia and jerry??? i mean, he's funny, but the man can't move! i hate the blatant favoritism by the judges. i'm totally rooting for jerry, he's my underdog, but I know stacy or drew will take it all the way.

i have this feeling that the judges have something against his partner. that is the only explaination for that travesty! i despise the female judge. she doesn't have a clue!...oh poor tia! but isn't she gorgeous?

Cinequest Film Festival is taking over Downtown San Jose as we speak, and last night I went to the California Theatre to check out Tenacious DTour , a documentary that followed the D on their world tour in support of The Pick of Destiny . A funny thing happened when my friend and I went to pick out seats. We ended up sitting right next to Kyle Gass and his girlfriend. for those of you who aren't familiar with who he is, he's the other guy in the band who's not Jack Black. awaiting the arrival of the great pumpkin

happy halloween everyone! tonight is the night that all of the little ones have been waiting for all year. i remember being going trick or treating as a kid and the smell of mixed candies and pillowcases, the stomach ache you'd get from consuming 1/2 your bagworth an hour after you'd get home, and protecting what was left of your stash from the hungry hands of those around you. I used to hide a lot of my candy, and then forget about it and find it a year later, gooey and stuck to a notebook in the back of my closet. Now that i am older, however, my halloween usually takes place at a party the weekend before the big day.
