99 cent memories

within a few short days, i will add the
  • kodak duaflex IV
    • to my family of cameras. i bought it off ebay for 99 cents, and i can't wait to get some 620 film and shoot some stuff. first of course, i have to learn how to work the darn thing. i was just so asthetically mesmerized with box cameras after watching
  • a lot like love
    • that i immediately got on ebay to look for one. i hope i can use it, but if not, it'll make for a cool decoration piece.

    my family and i are going to yosemite this weekend. this will be a fun but bittersweet trip. yosemite is one of my dad's favorite places in the whole world, and i am sad that he is unable to go with us. i still remember going up to yosemite falls on his shoulders and standing under them letting the mist fall on our faces. and the first and only time i went backpacking with him. i never thought we were going to stop walking. my dad can seriously walk forever. i think i'm going to test myself and see how much i can walk on this trip. it's going to be awesome, and of course i will be taking my 35mm pentax.

    moving day

    as of 5:30 this evening, i will officially be a resident of willow glen i'm droping off the first rent check, picking up the key, and hauling the first of my belongings up to the apartment. My new roomie is a good friend, and I know we are going to have awesome time. Although I wasn't as prepared as I would have liked, and it will be a few weeks before I'm truly settled, I still couldn't be more excited. In the midst of all this moving chaos, I will be taking a short road trip to The Oregon Shakespeare Festival , to check out Othello and Our Town this weekend. I so need this little excursion. It's going to be a nice break, and a chance to catch up with some old friends.

    Self- Dstruction

    Cinequest Film Festival is taking over Downtown San Jose as we speak, and last night I went to the California Theatre to check out Tenacious DTour , a documentary that followed the D on their world tour in support of The Pick of Destiny . A funny thing happened when my friend and I went to pick out seats. We ended up sitting right next to Kyle Gass and his girlfriend. for those of you who aren't familiar with who he is, he's the other guy in the band who's not Jack Black. We had our momentary silent freak out when we realized it was him, at which point I quietly leaned over and told him he was awesome. He quietly thanked me, and normalcy was restored until a few kids came over asking for autographs. He obliged but soon realized the mini pencil he was given to sign with wasn't going to work. Thanks to my new Andy Warhol Happy Bug Day tote bag, complete with handy organizational top compartment, i had easy access to my pen. I handed it over with great joy, and he was abl...

    it's self-portrait tuesday santa cruz beach boardwalk. february 11th, 2006 i haven't done this in awhile, but i thought the photo booth picture was worth a submission. i looooooooove photo booths. i love it when you try to jam 10 people into 1 small booth. i love it when unexpected moments happen between shots and they get captured. i love the linear design. i love the fact that you have 4 chances to get it right. basically i'm obsessed with photobooths. i'm totally going to get one for my "mtv cribs" house. ps. just note to all of my friends: if you come visit me, one of the stops on our tour will most definitely be the santa cruz beach boardwalk. their arcade has like, 20 photobooths, not to mention the best roller coaster in the world.
