being that it's NYE and all, I know I'm a bit late here, but I still feel the need to tell you about the 5 films i just can't do without during the holiday season. In now particular order : national lampoons christmas vacation white christmas love actually a charlie brown christmas elf and honorable mention for NYE---When Harry Met Sally! happy twenty eleven :)

do you think you're what they say you are? i do what an amazing live performance. raw, powerful, and inspiring. peaches kinda blew my mind last night at the herbst theatre in san francisco. an intimate venue, it was the perfect setting for this minimal and mezmerizing piece of theatre. 1 singer. 1 piano player. i intermission 2 hours. i was completely enthralled and energized. well done, peach.

seeing this story from a few very reliable gossip sources this morning made me grin from ear to ear. it's always nice to see two people who seem so in love be able to work through their past and come out stronger on the other side. my love of all things p!nk is a tad on the obsessive side, but i'm not gonna be ashamed. i am damn happy for her and her hubby. if this is true, your kid is going to be a total badass, just like you two :)

as someone who considers themselves to be a photo enthusiast, it has been an unbelivable 3+ years since i have owned a digital camera. my last one was "lost" in a traumatic wedding incident that is still far to painful to discuss....*sob* *sob* okay. now that i've collected myself enough to continue, I will say that after a recent experience the best coast show in san francisco I attended with my friend sera, where i snatched her cannon out of her hands and began feverishly shooting, i need one. bad. it has been far too long since I have taken pictures like a damn fool. let's change that soon, self. okay?

amy sedaris strikes again with her new book, "simple times : crafts for poor people" for people who know of amy, her genius goes without saying, but the fact that this awesome how-to has a yellow cover, just puts it way over the top for me. must. have. now.

so this 11th hour halloween costume evolved quite nicely. this is why i collect hats and wigs....and other random possible costume pieces. you never know how they might fit together.

to say I am an intermittent blogger would be kind. to say that i am one fickle broad would be closer to the truth. when i'm able to keep interest in something for more than a few months it's means i really like it. right now, i really like 1) giants baseball 2) peaches christ superstar 3) new movies like blue valentine , and sofia coppola's somewhere 4) halloween! Do you like Huey Lewis and the news? Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83,I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consimante professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far much more bitter, cynical sense of humour. In '87, Huey released Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics.
