photobooth friday

Image
the year : 1999 age: eighteen people: margaret(me), rosemary(oldest friend in the world. more like a sister now) this is one from the strip that we took that day. it was the summer before i left for college. we are such babies here! rosemary was still sporting all her piercings. and my hair was still long( i sometimes think about having long hair again, but then i realize that whenever i have long hair, the only thing i do with it is pull it back, like in the picture). after we took this picture, we probably drove around in her car with the windows rolled down, blasting rage against the machine, chain smoking marlboro reds. oh, we were soooooooo hardcore :)

over the river and through the woods

to grandmother's house i'd go. it's so empty now. i hope the new owners take care of and love it as much as she did. everything is changing. i'm okay with it, it's just weird. my film developing budget is going to put me in the poorhouse. i have 6 rolls from disneyland/seaworld to develop, boonville, and a trip to yosemite are coming, and i want to do a series in the rosegarden, a playground, and alum rock park. i think i want to upgrade my digital camera too. the little guy just isn't cutting it. whenever i try for a closeup, it gets all blury. hate it. i have jury duty this week. cross your fingers that my group number isn't called....

self-portrait tuesday: funny face

Image
it's self-portrait tuesday santa cruz beach boardwalk. february 11th, 2006 i haven't done this in awhile, but i thought the photo booth picture was worth a submission. i looooooooove photo booths. i love it when you try to jam 10 people into 1 small booth. i love it when unexpected moments happen between shots and they get captured. i love the linear design. i love the fact that you have 4 chances to get it right. basically i'm obsessed with photobooths. i'm totally going to get one for my "mtv cribs" house. ps. just note to all of my friends: if you come visit me, one of the stops on our tour will most definitely be the santa cruz beach boardwalk. their arcade has like, 20 photobooths, not to mention the best roller coaster in the world.

it's the taxman

Image
it's taxday! did everyone finish their taxes? i signed and sealed mine last night at around 1:15am. This is the first year i did them myself too. i hope they were right. it really is simple, but why do they have to use such complicated language on the gd forms? this week is going to be a killa. i don't get stressed easily, but i can already feel the pressure building. basically, my 2 person household is turning into a 5 person household. The house is a mess right now too, nowhere near ready for 3 more person's worth of crap. plus, i have to figure out how to transport a 600 pound table from one house to another..... but before that, i have to figure out how to get the damn thing out of the old apartment without damaging it or the house. good times. i just want to sleep, eat double stuff oreos, and all watch all the tv on dvd i own.

the joy of dance

Image
from my first year of dance classes in 1987-1988. i danced for another 7 years, and i still kick myself for quitting, but you know how 15 year olds can be. back then i was a member of the joy of dancing dance studio. i went from taking a ballet/ tap combo class for the first 2 years, to a ballet/ jazz combo and a solo tap class for the next 3, and then on to solo ballet, tap, and jazz classes for the last 2. as a kid, i wasn't much a fan of the ballet. it was too slow and boring. jazz was a little more fun, but my true passion lay with tap. i still have most of my costumes from the recitals. all i have to say is sequins, sequins, sequins!!! and unfortunatley for the little round thing i was, a lot of spandex as well. i was a big fan of the workout clothes, though, and most of the dancers at my studio rocked the danskin brand of dancing apparel. secretly, i always wanted to show up to class wearing something like this you know, to feel like a real dancer. in my last semester of c

barcelona, mi amor

Image
i took these while walking down the very narrow sprial staircase at the church of gaudi. during my trip to europe in 2002, no other city caught my attention like barcelona. it has everything. it's/ it has/ it's got -a big city -near the ocean -clean -an exciting nightlife -amazing shoppping -great people -yummy food -a great mass transit system -beautiful architecture -a great sense of history and culture because of this, i am totally obsessed with anything spanish. so if anyone wants to go barcelona, let me know. i would LOVE to go back. anytime.

the spittin' image

my dad, age 4 my nephew zachary, age 2 when i developed this picture that i had taken of of my nephew zachary, i gasped. he looks just like my dad. his expression in this particular picture is especially familiar. he has many of his father's mannerisims, but his face (eyes and smile mostly) is all purdy. i really love this photo, and i'm proud to have taken it.
